Introduction. The conducted research allowed us to analyze the available current information on the physical fitness of police officers undergoing initial professional training in educational organizations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia; to specify the concept of physical fitness and its main components; to specify the assessment tools to determine the level of physical fitness of a police officer; to identify the physical condition of trainees at the initial and final stages of training; to present practical recommendations on the physical fitness of police officers. Methods. In the conducted research along with the analysis of scientific and methodological literature, working programs on physical training and own pedagogical experience the testing method was used. Results. The results obtained by means of testing helped to solve the question concerning the change of physical preparedness of a group of students within the framework of initial professional training realized within the walls of the educational organization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Traditionally put forward hypothesis that in the course of initial professional training physical fitness of students will improve, was not confirmed in full. A number of indicators show some deterioration in the actual test results.
