The article presents the results of the analysis of the novel of the criminal procedure legislation, which determines the procedure for the seizure of electronic media and copying information from them. It is concluded that the new provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation considered in the article, which regulate the implementation of the above actions, need to be significantly improved. The author formulated proposals for improving legislation in this area. Attention is drawn to the fact that the implementation by the investigator of the right to independently copy information without the participation of a specialist is possible only after the investigator has passed the appropriate training.
