The article presents the results of a study of the influence of students' tendency to use emotions in order to manipulate others on the results of project activities of students in the field of preparation «State and Municipal Administration», whose future professional activity is closely connected with interpersonal interaction. The authors suggest a negative influence in the specialist’s competency model of the tendency to use emotions for the purpose of manipulating others. The hypothesis is confirmed that factors of emotional culture can serve as a guide for adapting the educational process of higher education to the widespread use of project-based learning tasks by taking into account the «soft» skills of students.
