Introduction. The relevance of the study conducted by the authors of the article is due to the need to develop effective methods for developing skills in cadets and students of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Interior of Russia related to the formation of the most important for specialists of internal affairs bodies, whose activities involve planning the investigation of crimes, professional competencies. In modern conditions, the latest technologies must be used in this work: their mastering will help graduates to immediately join the activities of investigating crimes. The article describes the experience of the Volgograd Academy of the Ministry of Interior of Russia in introducing a practice-oriented approach to training cadets and students using the latest technologies. Methods. The study used the general scientific dialectical method of cognition of the surrounding reality, as well as methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction and modeling, description of the results of the work done. Results. The authors reveal the features of the educational process organized at the Department of Criminalistics of the Educational and Scientific Complex for Preliminary Investigation in the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Volgograd Academy of the Ministry of Interior of Russia, related to conducting seminars and practical classes on the subject of «Criminalistics». In these classes, the multifunctional complex «Mobile Center of the Investigative Task Force», developed in 2023 and implemented in 2024, equipped with modern forensic tools, was used. The effectiveness of using the methodology presented in the article in conducting seminars, practical and off-site classes on the subject of «Criminalistics» is proven. An analysis of the use of the above-mentioned complex during practical classes (including off-site ones) is carried out, conclusions are formulated on the effectiveness of its implementation in the educational process.
