Derationalisation of young people’s consciousness as a challenge to the state educational system – a problem statement
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
Introduction. The presented article substantiates the problem of the derationalisation of modern youth’s consciousness, which is associated with the increasing demand for goods, services, and online education related to astrology and esotericism. The article also examines various challenges faced by the state educational system in Russia in relation to this phenomenon. Materials and methods. The article relies on the statistics analysis published in open access on the Internet about the market of goods and services of an esoteric nature, as well as on data reflecting the popularity of online training related to astrology and esoterics. Additionally, the research includes a comparative analysis of scientific literature on the risks of derationalisation of young people’s consciousness. Results. According to open statistics, the demand of young people for online education in occult sciences (astrology, numerology, regressology, tarot card reading, etc.), as well as for esoteric goods and services has been growing steadily over the last four years, which is a sign of a trend towards derationalisation of youth consciousness. This phenomenon is likely linked to socio-economic and socio-political factors. Based on research in the field, some possible causes have been identified, including contradictions in the spiritual sphere of society. It is also important to address the need for promoting rational and critical thinking in modern education. A comparative analysis of various theories and concepts has revealed the significant potential of the concept of inactive cognition, as well as achievements in the fields of positive psychology and the psychology and pedagogy of critical thinking. Discussion and Conclusion. The discussed approaches to derationalisation of youth consciousness can potentially be integrated into the modern Russian educational system. However, the potential of using scientific findings from various disciplines to reduce the impact of derationalised youth consciousness has not been fully explored.
