The article presents some results of a study of the influence of the development of research skills on the level of training of law school students. The authors analyzed scientific research on relevant issues, summarized the experience of teaching at a university and managing the research work of students. It is concluded that the development of students' research skills allows them to lay the foundations of a doctrinal worldview and consciousness, effectively contributes to the formation of professionally significant competencies and ultimately creates sustainable motivation to obtain in-depth knowledge in the disciplines being studied.
