THE DYNAMICS OF LIFE-MEANING AND VALUE ORIENTATIONS OF CADETS IN EDUCATIONAL ORGANISATIONS OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF RUSSIA

Abstract:
Introduction. The dynamics of value and life-meaning orientations among learners is an important indicator not only of their development but also of their readiness to perform educational and service tasks, and subsequently operational and service tasks, particularly in the context of the digital reality. To assess the transformation of these phenomena among cadets, a comparative study was conducted. Methods. The study involved 42 cadets from the Institute of Psychology of Service Activities of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia named after V. Ya. Kikoty (8 males and 34 females aged between 18 and 21 years). To evaluate the value and life-meaning orientations, the following psychodiagnostic methods were used: the Life-Meaning Orientation Test (LMOT) by D. A. Leontiev and the “Value Orientations” methodology (M. Rokich). For statistical data processing, the Student's t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient were employed. Results. The conducted research revealed that: 1) the highest ranks among terminal values were attributed to personal life values, while professional values took a back seat; among instrumental values, the values of interpersonal communication and work values were prominent; 2) the overall indicator of life meaningfulness is above average; 3) there are statistically significant differences in the scales of M. Rokich’s methodology and the scales of the LMOT.
