The article discusses the dominant point of view in the doctrine of criminal law and judicial practice, which denies the possibility of the existence of preparation for a crime and attempted crime with indirect intent. The conclusion about its inconsistency with reality is substantiated, the inconsistency of the arguments underlying it is demonstrated. Positive prospects for rejecting this point of view are shown. According to the results of the study, appropriate changes in the doctrine of criminal law and criminal law are proposed.
