The article presents the results of a historical study of the main directions and content of state and legal reforms carried out in Russia by Ivan IV from the mid-16th century. Their features and results are considered. The author analyzed the legal acts adopted during the reform changes. Special attention is paid to the legal innovations of the Code of Law of 1550. Conclusions are drawn about the role of the reform activities of Ivan the Terrible in the development of the Russian legal system.
