Abstract:
In the article, the term digital currency is considered as common to all money in the digital space, which includes virtual currencies and cryptocurrencies. The correspondence of cryptocurrencies to the concepts of «digital money» and «digital currencies» is substantiated. The characteristics of cryptocurrency are examined; its place in the system of objects of civil rights and as a financial instrument for committing crimes. The main aspects of the functioning of cryptocurrency are analyzed, for which their types are highlighted. In order to structure the entire variety of cryptocurrencies, their conditional classification was carried out.
