Currently, the priorities include ensuring the country's food security. To solve them, various advanced technologies can be used, starting from the digitalization of individual agricultural production processes and ending with the cultivation of environmentally friendly (organic) products. The purpose of the study, some of the results of which are presented in the article, is to analyze the problems and prospects for the development of organic farming in Russia in the context of the tasks of transition to a «green» economy. The author's attention is drawn to the legislation on the development of organic agriculture, the first results of its action, doctrinal discussions about the ways and means of legal regulation of the cultivation of environmentally friendly (organic) products. The practice of developing organic farming at the regional level is analyzed - on the territory of three Caspian regions of the Russian Federation. Proposals for additional measures of state support for organic farming in Russia are presented. It is noted that the further development of the market for organic products in the country is hampered by its high cost and low awareness of the population about its quality.
